Hard sided rollaboards too fat to fly

From road warrior to road warrior art.

I’m making a slight change to number 8 on my top ten travel tools. I’m retiring the Samsonite hard-side rolling carry-on and substituting a rolling camera case made by ThinkTank. The Samsonite is being side-lined by the cost of jet fuel not by any failings of the case itself. With a curb weight of approximately 15-17 pounds the little Samsonite exceeds many foreign carriers carry-on weight limits…empty.

Aggressive enforcement of weight and size limits means I think twice before packing a piece of gear and this extends to cases. The rolling cases made by ThinkTank share the incognito appearance of a standard suitcase with the added benefit of being a full-blown camera case on the inside.

The Samsonite has found new life as a repository for magnetic hotel keys.
