All the beauty, none of the stitches

We’ve talked about sexing up people pictures with software like Photoshop but that assumes you know what changes to make. What if you don’t know what kind of changes will make a human face universally more attractive.

Enter the “beautification engine”, software that uses a mathematical formula that will alter a photograph of you to make you more beautiful. <http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/fashion/09skin.html&gt;

I expect software like this to be ultimately integrated into a camera’s operating system in much the same way as HP’s slimming filter. 

If at some point in the future a majority of our interactions with each other become digital, image manipulating software could displace the cosmetic surgery business.
