Do we really want face recognition software

Apple introduced its new iPhoto this month as part of iLife 09 http://www.apple.com/ilife/. The biggest splash caused by the new software is its facial recognition capabilities, bringing to consumer what’s been a part of   surveillance technology for quite some time.  Face recognition technology brings a host of new consumer benefits but the Times of London columnist David Rowan predicts a dark future caused by this invasive technology http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article5504534.ece

In the meantime, I anxiously await the arrival of my new MacBook Pro 17 unibody.
