Get high, shoot low

The lowly (I mean highly) ladder is about as low tech as you can get. It’s old tech too, having shown up  in a Mesolithic rock painting in Spain that’s at least 10,000 years old. Yet, the ladder has become one of my most used photographic tools. Gaining altitude allows me to isolate a subject against a clean background and a high position is always great for group shots. A 10-foot, fiberglass step ladder is light enough to throw in the back of an SUV or tie down to a roof rack. I have about a dozen different ladders but the most useful is the Little Giant <;. They’re not cheap but they’re the best IMHO and they’ll ship to your front door.
